Systems Assessment · The first step

Before any quote, a written reading you own.

A fixed-price look inside your systems or process, ending in a written plan: what you have, what should change, what it would take, and a fixed quote if there is work worth doing. Use it with us or without us.

How it runs

From systems you can’t see into, to a plan on paper.

  1. 01 / 04

    As it is today

Code, scheduled jobs and data that grew over years, and nobody holds the whole picture. That is where the reading starts.

  2. 02 / 04

    Read through

We read the system as it runs: the code, the jobs and the data, traced end to end.

  3. 03 / 04

    What it finds

Tangles, broken links between parts, and things nobody uses any more. Each finding is written down with where it was found.

  4. 04 / 04

    Your written assessment

Five parts in one document. It is yours to keep and act on.

What’s in it

Five parts, one document.

  • What the system does today, traced through the code, the jobs and the data.
  • What should change, ranked by consequence.
  • What it would take, with the trade-offs.
  • What we would not touch, and why.
  • A fixed-scope quote, if there is work worth doing.

Written so your own team or another firm could act on it.

What it settles

The decisions it answers.

The assessment ends with an answer, with the reasons written down. Sometimes the answer is that what you have is sound.

Which ERP to move to

  • ERPNext, Odoo or another platform
  • Chosen from your data and your process
  • The reasons, in writing

A stalled project

  • What is already loaded, read first
  • Keep, fix, finish or drop
  • What each option would take

A build or an automation

  • What it has to cover
  • What it should leave alone
  • A fixed scope to quote against

Why it’s paid

Because it is the work, not a sales call.

Paying for it means the document is written for you, not to sell you the next thing.

If we find nothing serious, you get that in writing, with what was checked.

After it

No lock-in. You can stop after any step.

Buying the assessment does not commit you to the work.

  1. 01

    The assessment

You get the written reading. You can stop here: the document is yours.

  2. 02

    A fixed scope in writing

If there is work worth doing, the quote is part of the document. You can stop here, or take it to another firm.

  3. 03

    The work

Delivered to the written scope, then handed over with source, documentation and access. Hosting and care is optional.

How we work

The principles, on one screen.

How is work priced?

Fixed scope, agreed in writing. We do not bill by the hour.

Who owns what you deliver?

You do. Documents, source code and access are handed over.

Who does the work?

The developer who leads your project, from the first message to handover, with 5+ years of hands-on software development, integration, optimisation and automation.

What about confidentiality?

Assumed from the first conversation, not requested. We do not publish anything about your system, your data or your business. Sanitised copies of your data are fine.

What do you not do?

Managed IT or a helpdesk, staff augmentation, and work billed by the hour.

What we need from you

Four things to start.

  • Read access to the code, or a copy of it.
  • A copy of the data. Sanitised is fine.
  • One person who knows how the business uses the system.
  • Whatever documentation exists, including none.

One fixed price.

One fixed price for the assessment and the written document, agreed before it starts.

The work after it is fixed in writing from what the assessment finds.
